Well done, boys!

Digital Wellness

Montessori Life is a phone-free campus for its learners. Members of staff regularly attend Emma Sadleir's talks (a social media expert) and find them highly informative. She has represented many students and families in South Africa and internationally.

Please see the information below for one of her masterclasses, and a talk by her colleague Rorke Wilson. I strongly encourage all parents and young tweens who can attend these talks to attend them; they are a serious eye-opener.

Length: 1Hour, 53 Minutes

Available: 17 September - 18 October 2025

In this powerful and practical masterclass, Emma Sadleir, South Africa’s leading expert on social media and digital law, provides parents with a wake-up call. Drawing on real cases, legal insights and years of experience, she unpacks the digital risks faced by every child with access to the internet and empowers parents with the tools to respond.

Real Case Highlight: Emma vs Meta Platforms

In a first-of-its-kind legal victory, Emma Sadleir and The Digital Law Company forced Meta (owner of Instagram and WhatsApp) to hand over the identities behind more than 30 accounts distributing explicit content involving South African schoolchildren.

This urgent court application resulted in Meta formally accepting South African jurisdiction, disclosing user data, and committing to removing over 60 accounts. A direct hotline was also established between Emma’s legal team and Meta for rapid reporting of future threats.

This case highlights the terrifying speed at which inappropriate content can spread and the importance of early intervention and strong parenting.

Who Should Attend

This session is for every parent whose child has access to a phone, tablet, laptop or gaming console. Whether your child is 10 or 17, this masterclass gives you the clarity and confidence to start the conversations that matter.

The recording will be available from 17 September - 18 October 2025, please be mindful of this when purchasing your ticket. COST E195 per ticket.

Annual Abandoned Babies for Christ (ABC) Drive

We are excited to announce our annual Abandoned Babies for Christ (ABC) Drive. This year, we will be combining the drive with a Civvies Day on the 31st of October. Each child is encouraged to bring along an item in support of ABC and children are welcome to wear civvies on that Friday.

A list of suggested items will be shared through the class groups. We will also share the latest ABC Newsletter. We encourage families to take this opportunity to clear out closets for gently used clothing and to pass along toys that can be recycled and enjoyed by others.

We believe that charity starts at home. By involving our children in this initiative, we are helping them recognise the importance of generosity and the happiness that accompanies giving.

Solar Energy School

ree

We are pleased to inform our school community that, as of 17th September, our campus is now powered by solar energy. On sunny days, the school operates fully off-grid, with stored solar power providing electricity throughout the night. To ensure uninterrupted learning and safety, a diesel generator has also been installed as an additional backup in case both solar and EEC supplies are unavailable. Alongside the 48 solar panels now in place, 35 independent backup lights have been fitted to keep our campus well-lit after dark.

This grant has supported our commitment to sustainability, energy independence, and providing a secure and sustainable environment for our children.

Fees

We remind parents with outstanding fees to please settle their accounts promptly. Termly payers should have settled their accounts; monthly payers, please make payment before the 7th of each month, to avoid disruption to learning.

Learners with outstanding amounts and no current payment plan or communication with the school, will face disruption to learning.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school office, should you need.

Kind regards

Thea
